ENT treatment in ayurveda is known as Shalakya tantra. For ailments of the ear Ayurveda prescribes Karna Purana and Karna Dhoopana treatments. Karna Purana involves oleation of the ear using medicated oils nourishes the ear drums and acoustic nerves. It is preventive and curative therapy very beneficial for ailments such as vertigo and hearing needs. Karna Dhoopana on the other hand is a sudation therapy that involves fumigation of the ear with medicated oils so as to treat ailments such as infections. For Mouth and Throat related ailments a range of treatments including gargling medications, herbal pastes and steam therapy are commonly prescribed.
